Dr. Dana Weinstein and Dr. Melissa Lang started the practice in 2002 after working as child psychologists in multiple other venues. Our pediatric psychologists specialize in individually tailored assessments for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Autism Spectrum Disorders including Asperger’s Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and emotional issues.
What makes us different than other practices?
All of our clinicians have a minimum of 15 years experience working with children and/or adults with a variety of abilities and are well-versed in differential diagnosis, in personally tailoring assessments to tap the strengths and weaknesses of individuals dependent upon the referral questions, in interpretation of test results for parents and students, and in providing specific recommendations for intervention. In addition, we feel it is important that our experienced clinicians personally administer all assessment instruments in order to observe your child across a variety of measures; we do not utilize interns or testing technicians. This allows us to provide more personal service to you and your child, and assures you that a clinician with extensive experience handles all parts of the evaluation. When selecting any psychological testing services for your child, be sure to ask if all testing will be completed by a doctoral-level psychologist.
Many of our clinicians also have a history of working in local school systems and have expertise regarding Department of Education rules and regulations, particularly those affecting children with special needs. We can assist you in translating test results for school staff and advocating for accommodations or support services needed.
We offer clinical evaluations and services for clients of all ages which include:
- Behavioral consultation
- Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)
- Testing for giftedness
- School observations
- Attendance/Advocacy at Tier/SST, IEP and Section 504 meetings
- Documentation required for modification to standardized tests such as SAT, GRE
- Documentation required for Katie Beckett deeming waiver, SSI applications
- Documentation required to secure accommodations or services in the preschool through the college setting
Our assessments are integrated into a personalized profile of strengths and weaknesses as well as specific interventions for you and/or your child. We feel that it is critical to integrate all aspects of a child’s functioning in order to plan the most appropriate educational and behavioral interventions to ensure success. Your doctor will conference with you before the assessment in order to determine the best evaluation for your needs. We will also be happy to consult via phone regarding your situation and suggest the most appropriate assessment, tailored to fit your child. We are available to attend your school-related conferences such as IEP or Student Support Team/RtI/Tier meetings.
